Uhuru calls for unity in Central province

NAIROBI - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated his call for leaders in Central Kenya to unite as the 2012 succession race intensifies.

Speaking during a fund raising ceremony in aid of Mbari ya Ruga Secondary School in Gatanga, Uhuru said unity in the region will prevent a recurrence of chaos like it happened in 2008.
Uhuru cautioned against divisive politics and rallied leaders to address the plight of youth saying majority of those in this group remain unemployed.
Several leaders who spoke during the meeting including councilors from Gatanga and Muranga' supported the calls for unity.
During the fundraiser, Uhuru contributed 800,000 shillings, while Juja MP William Kabogo gave 150,000 shillings and Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu donated 50,000 shillings.
